Case Study 39

Terry is delivering wind turbines from Birmingham to a remote site in the Scottish Highlands. His journey will take him the best part of 16 hours and will include an overnight stop. Luckily, his tractor unit is top-of-the-range and benefits from air suspension, a sleeper cab, air conditioning, built-in satellite navigation. A vehicle tracking system enables his office to keep track of his location in real time.
The total weight of the tractor unit is 7,500kg.

His vehicle is 17.2 metres long, and the turbine overhangs the rear by 1.4 metres.

Terry is 34 years of age, and his wife is due to give birth to their first child next week.
