Adam is the owner operator of a rigid flatbed lorry with a gross vehicle weight of 26,250kg. His main contract is carrying steel drums made by a local engineering firm.

Each steel drum weighs 500kg, and there are four drums on each pallet. The drums are secured on the vehicle by chains and ratchet straps.

Adam starts work at 08:00 am, carries out his vehicle checks, and starts driving at 08:30 am. It is a five hour drive to his destination.

The kerbside weight of Adam’s truck is 8,000kg, it is 4.2 metres high, and he is driving under EU rules.
