Case Study 101

Mark is driving at night on a three lane motorway. On his immediate right hand side are amber reflective stud markings, and on his left are white studs.

He is driving a truck that has a gross vehicle weight of 12,500kg and one passenger seat. It does not have any modern gadgets such as inbuilt satellite navigation or a sleeper cab, but Mark is happy with it.

Today is his first day in his new job and his 35th birthday. He is driving to Inverness in Scotland from Cornwall. The journey time is 11 hours, so he will need to take a daily rest period before completing his journey.

He’s also a little tired. This morning, he went to the opticians to collect his first pair of glasses, which he must wear for driving.
